Burial arrangements earlier announced for late gospel singer and worship leader, Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, have been cancelled.

The family announced the cancellation on Saturday through a video statement on Instagram shared by a close colleague and friend of the deceased, Lanre Alewilese.

“This is to inform you that all plans and arrangements for the burial of our Late Sister and Colleague; OMIJE OJUMI, by the burial planning committee has been cancelled totally,” the caption read.

According to the statement, the decision to pause all burial plans was taken due to issues arising within the singer’s family, adding that the move was necessary despite ongoing preparations.

The family apologised to colleagues, friends, and well-wishers for the inconvenience caused by the sudden development and said further information would be communicated when appropriate.

The announcement came hours after Mr Alewilese announced burial arrangements for Ms Akinnaanu, detailing a service of songs, candlelight procession, and artiste night scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, at the LTV 8 compound in Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos, with interment planned for the following day.

Ms Akinnaanu, a respected Yoruba gospel singer, died on January 12 in a Lagos hospital after battling health challenges.
