Ondo 2024: Viral video shows APC chieftain with alleged fake membership cards

A viral video has surfaced showing APC chieftain Ariyo Ajiroba allegedly producing fake membership cards ahead of the gubernatorial primary in Ondo.
The clip followed a report of seven aspirants, including Jimoh Ibrahim, petitioning the APC hierarchy of the fraudulent act. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was not among the petitioners.
The video showed Mr Ajiroba with passport photographs that were believed to belong to non-APC members.
In the three-minute and thirty-five-second footage, the APC chieftain was seen with a woman inside a compound registering the alleged fake party membership cards.
Also, a voice was heard in the background questioning Mr Ajiroba over his alleged involvement in the alleged fake membership card.
Peoples Gazette could not immediately reach Mr Ajiroba for comments.
The Gazette also could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.
A source said the video was recorded Wednesday morning at Mr Ajiroba’s compound in Akure. The source added that the suspects had been arrested and handed over to the police.
“The video was recorded this morning (Wednesday) and they were caught in the act. We got wind of their activities and we immediately moved in security personnel in mufti to arrest them.
“That man (Ajiroba) was caught with several passports of people who are not APC members and he was registering them for the primary. We were questioning him, but he has no answers to how he came about them,” the source told The Gazette.
Meanwhile, the video shows a vehicle linked to one of the party’s governorship aspirants, Olusola Oke. Mr Oke did not respond to The Gazette’s request for comments.
Also, the spokesman for his campaign organisation, Ojo Oyewamide, could not be reached to comment on the development.
Police spokeswoman in Ondo Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya said she was unaware of the case.
