Ondo INEC gets new REC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says a new resident electoral commissioner (REC), Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, has assumed duty in Ondo State.
This is contained in a statement made available on Monday in Akure by Adenike Tadese, the INEC administrative secretary in the state.
The statement said Mr Agboke resumed as the 21st REC in the state, replacing Oluwatoyin Babalola, who had been transferred to Osun.
According to the statement, Mr Agboke, a seasoned legal scholar and election management expert from Abeokuta, Ogun, was called to the Nigerian bar in 2006.
It read further that the new REC had served as a member of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) between 2012 and 2016.
“He has equally served as REC in Ondo, Oyo and Osun States, where he supervised the 2019 and 2023 general elections. He is known for integrity, transparency and professionalism.
“The commission expresses confidence in his ability to strengthen electoral integrity and deliver credible, free and fair elections in Ondo State,” it added.
