Ondo lawmaker Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo wins re-election; defeats closest rival by 40,000 votes

Honourable Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo of the All Progressives Congress has been re-elected to represent the Akoko North East and North West Federal Constituency of Ondo state after defeating his opponent in the February 25th House of Representatives election.

In the final result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo gathered a total of 51,539 votes, which Implies 84.5% of the total valid votes cast in the election, to return elected.

Meanwhile, the Okeagbe-born politician’s main rival, Olusegun Kadri, of the People’s Democratic Party, only managed to secure 9,014 from the two local governments in the constituency, which is only 14.8% of the total valid votes cast.

Mr Tunji-Ojo, who currently serves as the Chairman, House Committee for Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), will retain the seat at the lower chamber of the National Assembly, which he has been occupying for the last four years.
