Ondo NSCDC deploys 800 personnel for Eid-el-Fitr celebration

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo has deployed 800 personnel to the state’s nooks and crannies to protect critical national assets during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
Ibiloye Oluyemi, the state commandant of the NSCDC, announced the deployment in a press statement by Daniel Aidamenbor, the command’s spokesperson, on Tuesday.
Mr Oluyemi said proactive measures through an operational order have been issued to all heads of formations to ensure total security and prevent incidents during the celebration.
The commandant sought the resident’s support to ensure the safety of lives and properties, asking them to report suspicious movements or gatherings of persons to the command through its communication channels.
“The deployment of operatives is aimed at discouraging potential criminal activities and to provide security coverage for residents of the state with watertight security in all the praying grounds in the 18 local governments of the state.
“The tactical patrol teams from the operations department, Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) and armed squad unit would ensure adequate patrol of the State before, during and after the festive period,” Mr Oluyemi said.
The commandant congratulated the Muslim faithful on completing the Ramadan fast and encouraged them to imbibe the spirit of the season by showing love and practising the lessons learnt during the holy month.
The federal government had announced Tuesday and Wednesday as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
