The Ondo State Government said it promoted 3,089 mainstream officers in 2025, while the 2026 promotion exercise is underway.

The state Head of Service, Bayo Philip, said this in Akure during a news conference to herald the 2025 Ondo State Public Service Week celebration.

The theme for this year’s week was “Rejuvenating the Public Service for Effective Service Delivery.”

Mr Philip also said the state government employed about 2,830 workers into the civil service in 2025 to key sectors such as health, education, justice, works and forestry.

The head of service showcased achievements of the public service sector under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State.

Mr Philip said there would be health walk on Wednesday, and a novelty match between mainstream civil servants (state) and local government teams at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.

According to him, there will be a public service lecture on Thursday followed by an interactive session with select retired heads of service and permanent secretaries.

He stated, “The foregoing manifest and deliberate attention of this administration, among others, are clear testimonies that the administration of Aiyedatiwa values the workforce and sees public servants as partners in the progress of the state. Therefore, it is expected that public officers reciprocate this goodwill with renewed dedication, integrity and productivity. We owe this as a sacred duty not only to the government but to our dear state.

“On this year’s auspicious occasion of this anniversary, we will turn the searchlight inwards to take stock, evaluate ourselves as we refuel for the period ahead.’’
