Yusuf Adenoyin, a suspected ritualist, has been nabbed with eight human skulls by the security agencies at Isua Akoko, in the Akoko South-East  LGA.

Mr Adenoyin, 37, was arrested at one of the checkpoints between the Isua and Epinmi in a Nissan car en route from Akure to Osogbo.

The suspect was said to have been in the vehicle with four other passengers when the personnel attached to the Police Safer Highway Patrol intercepted them on the road.

A security source who confirmed Mr Adenoyin’s arrest to Peoples Gazette in Akure said the suspects had claimed he was travelling from Okene in Kogi to Osogbo, in Osun state, to deliver the human skulls to a herbalist.

The source revealed that the arrested suspect had already concealed the skulls inside a sack of garri alongside charms before he was nabbed.

Police commissioner Abayomi Oladipo confirmed the suspect’s arrest in a statement.

“Upon interrogation, Adenoyin, 37, confessed to being the owner of the skulls and explained that he was delivering them to an herbalist named Opeifa in the Oke-Onitea area of Osogbo.

“He equally mentioned other customers he usually supplies human skulls to include Almonso who lives at Oke-Onitea, Osogbo, Alfaa Agba who lives at Oke Ontea and also Oshoyemi who resides around the Oja Oba area.

“The suspect further confessed that the human skulls were usually handed over to him by one, Imaila living at Oboroke in Okene, and that each head is being sold for between thirty thousand Naira (N30,000) and thirty-five thousand (N35,000),” he said.

The police chief, however, added that the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) unit in Akure with his case file for further investigations.
