One dead as rival cult groups clash at Michael Koleoso poly

A fight between two rival cult groups at Michael Adeniyi Koleoso Polytechnic in Saki, Oyo State, has led to the death of some students of the school.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed this in a statement to journalists on Wednesday in Ibadan.
Mr Olayinka said that the command responded to a distress call on January 7, at about 2:30 p.m., after receiving a report about the clash among students of the institution at Challenge 1 Area.
He said the clash, which happened behind the school, led to sustenance of a gunshot injury by one of the student of the polytechnic.
He stated, “A student sustained a gunshot wound to the back and was rushed to Tunmise Private Hospital, Saki, where the victim later succumbed to the injury.”
Mr Olayinka said that one expended cartridge was recovered at the scene and a suspect had been arrested in connection with the incident while others were still at large.
According to him, further investigations have commenced to determine the circumstances and motive behind the crime.
He said that the operation demonstrated the command’s ability to respond swiftly to violent crimes and restore order in sensitive environments.
