Nigerian singer Kizz Daniel has announced that he has officially quit smoking.

Vado as he is always called, made the decision and announcement on his 28th birthday today on May 1, with a video he posted on his Instagram page.

“For the sake of my kids and the people that genuinely love me, I quit”, he announced, as he brought out a pack of cigarettes, removed the sticks, bent them and threw them away.

“Those of you still struggling with this addiction, it is not cool and it is not good. Trust me, it is not. So, May Gods save our souls. Respect. Thank you and happy sunday. God bless,” the founder of Fly Boy Inc and a father of twins advocated in the video.

Nigerians have applauded his decision, while some have questioned this move asking if it was just the cigarettes he quit, or all other form of class B drugs like cannabis, marijuana and the likes.

Last year, the singer announced the arrival of his twin sons on his birthday, saying “There is no better way to celebrate my birthday, than announcing the arrival of my son’s… Jelani & Jalil.”

Cigarette, drug use and alcoholism has always been associated with the music industry, both local and international, and reflected in their lyrics and lifestyle.

Over the years, artistes have claimed they use it to deal with the anxiety and pressure that comes with the industry or performing on stage, while some have claimed it as a sauce of inspiration to spark creativity.
