The Theatre Commander of the Joint Taskforce North-East “Operation Hadin Kai,” Christopher Musa, has pledged that troops that fight Boko Haram terrorists in the region will get special promotion.

“As soldiers, we are trained to face challenges and also to be able to overcome challenges. Therefore, those committed to doing their jobs will be rewarded.

“Your promotions in the field must be based on performance. Those soldiers putting in their best in operation would be considered for a special promotion,” Mr Musa noted while addressing troops of the 5 Brigade, Nigerian Army in Damasak, the headquarters of Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno.

The commander was in Damasak, a major community on the Nigerian border with the Niger Republic, as part of a routine operational tour of the theatre.

He said the Chief of Army Staff, Faruk Yahaya, had provided the necessary resources and equipment needed to prosecute and hasten the end of the fight against the Boko Haram insurgents.

Mr Musa urged the troops to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring effective equipment utilisation to end insurgency and enhance the region’s peace-building process.

While urging the troops to be professional in their conduct, Mr Musa tasked commanders in the theatre to be good managers of people and resources entrusted to them to facilitate successful prosecution of the war.

He further admonished Senior Non Commissioned Officers to justify their ranks by ensuring effective management and control of their subordinates.

“Your deployment to serve in the North-East is a privilege that places you ahead of your colleagues outside the region,” he said.
