Ann Altman has accused her elder brother and OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman of molesting and sexually harassing her when she was three years old in 1997 until 2006. 

Ms Altman —who opened an OnlyFans account in 2020 to survive and claimed she severed ties with her family (mother and two siblings) for not immediately giving her a portion of her late father’s fortune— filed a lawsuit against her brother in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri on Monday seeking $75,000 in compensation.

The sexual abuse, according to Ms Altman, caused her to suffer “PTSD, severe emotional distress, mental anguish and depression, which is expected to continue into the future.” 

Ms Altman, in the lawsuit, accused OpenAI founder of “numerous acts of rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse, molestation, sodomy, and battery.” 

“I started sex work while houseless and having my dead Dad’s money in my name withheld from me,” Ms Altman wrote on X in October 2024. “And having all sorts of comments made about my mental health and more, by absers(sic) I went no contact with in 2020.”

Mr Altman has strongly denied the accusations, explaining that his sister whom he called “Annie” had mental health issues and refused “conventional treatment.” 

“Annie has made deeply hurtful and entirely untrue claims about our family, and especially Sam,” the family said in a statement that Mr Altman posted on  X on Wednesday. “This situation causes immense pain to our entire family.”

The family countered the accusations, noting that “Annie” was not content, demanding more money despite being placed on a monthly allowance.

“Our family loves Annie and is very concerned about her well-being,” the statement said. “Annie receives monthly financial support, which we expect to continue for the rest of her life. Despite this, Annie continues to demand more money from us.”

But Ms Altman’s lawyer, Ryan Mahoney, said there was no evidence to link his client’s accusations to her mental illness.

“There is no evidence that her own mental health has contributed to her allegations,” her lawyer said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal.

Mr Mahoney filed the suit in line with a Missouri statute that allowed victims of child sexual abuse to file charges until their 31st birthday. Ms Altman sued her brother on Monday, two days before she turned 31 on Wednesday.
