Osun APC chieftain wants Reps ticket zoned to constituency

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun, Adebayo Balogun, has decried the marginalisation of Odo-Otin LGA, urging the party leadership to zone the House of Representatives ticket to it ahead of the party’s primaries.
Mr Balogun, the spokesperson to the late Afenifere leader, Ayo Fasanmi, and the present coordinator of the Odo-Otin Progressive Like-Minded Group, made the appeal in a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo.
He expressed concern over the continued marginalisation of Odo-Otin in the political arrangement of the constituency with unequal distribution of elective positions.
According to him, equity, fairness and justice will speak if the ticket is zoned to Odo-Otin without further delay.
“We want Odo-Otin to get the ticket and not be sidelined while other local governments continue to benefit from the rotation of this ticket. Odo-Otin has waited long enough and deserves its rightful place in the political sphere,” he said.
Mr Balogun added that Odo-Otin LGA has credible and competent aspirants capable of winning elections and representing the constituency effectively.
The APC chieftain appealed to former Osun governor Bisi Akande to intervene and ensure fairness in the zoning arrangement.
He also urged the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, to support the demand in the interest of party unity.
The party chieftain called on the APC State chairman, Tajudeen Lawal; members of the Elders’ Forum; and other stakeholders to take decisive steps to address the issue.
Mr Balogun, however, charged political leaders from Odo-Otin to unite and speak with one voice to advance the collective interest of the area.
