Osun APC leaders call for unity ahead of 2026 governorship election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders’ forum in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun has urged party members to shun divisive actions that could affect its victory in the August 8, 2026, governorship election in the state.
The appeal is contained in a communiqué issued by the co-conveners of the forum, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye and Tunji Adesokun, made available to journalists on Sunday in Osogbo.
The forum said that if members of the party could come together in oneness, APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, would record a landslide victory in the election.
It called for unity among party faithful ahead of the governorship election, urging members to avoid actions or strategies that could create internal conflicts or splits.
The communiqué, which described Mr Oyebamiji as a loyal, committed and highly experienced politician, said that his victory in the election is non-negotiable if party members remain loyal and committed.
The forum appealed to leaders of APC, both at the state and national levels, to work hard to unite all interests and opinions within the party for its success and victory at the poll.
“We are approaching a major election, and we must ensure that we go into the poll as a united and cohesive group.
“The choice of Oyebamiji as the party’s candidate has made the task easier, but our leaders both at the state and national levels must still work hard and prevent internal sabotage.
” We, the members of the forum, are in full alignment with the choice of Oyebamiji as our flag bearer, and we will mobilise for his victory across the grassroots,” it stated.
The forum said it was in agreement with the resolution of the leaders of the party that every member should jettison their allegiance to other aspirants once the party produces a candidate, irrespective of the constitutional mode of choice.
While commending the leaders of the party for ensuring a peaceful party primary in the state, the forum urged them to bring all aggrieved members together for the success of the party.
According to the forum, from all indications, the electorate are yearning for the return of APC in the state, but members of the party must shun divisive tendencies.
It commended President Bola Tinubu, the national chairman of the party, Nentawe Yilwatda; the national leader of the party, Bisi Akande; and the minister of marine and blue economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for their continued support for the party.
The forum also said that the contributions of the national secretary of the party, Sen. Ajibola Basiru; the chairman of the party in the state, Tajudeen Lawal; the leader of APC elders’ forum, Pa Sola Akinwunmi; and other party leaders in the state could not be overemphasised.
