Osun deputy governor, PDP settle rift

The Osun State Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, said the issue regarding a vote of no confidence passed in him by leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife Federal Constituency has been resolved.
Mr Adewusi, who said this at a stakeholders’ meeting on Friday in Ile-Ife, described the issue as a storm in a teacup, which, according to him, had been resolved.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ife Federal Constituency in Osun State, on September 2, passed a vote of no confidence in Mr Adewusi over alleged anti-party activities.
A vote of no confidence was also passed in a member of the Board of Trustees of the party, Prof Wale Oladipo.
The deputy governor, however, said that there was no division among the party members in the area, adding that “in politics, you cannot rule out what has happened in the past.”
He stated, “Let me just tell you, men of the press, that bygones is bygones. We have forgotten everything that happened in the past, and we have turned over a new leaf. What happened here today is to tell all of you that PDP is one. Today, the whole thing has been resolved finally.’’
Earlier, the state PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, said that the vote of no confidence in the deputy governor had been withdrawn.
Mr Bisi said that the issue that led to the vote of no confidence had been resolved through the party’s internal mechanism.
He said, “This is a unity meeting to foster unity among the stakeholders in Ife Federal constituency. The vote of no confidence has been withdrawn. The storm is over, and peace will reign in Ife PDP and Osun State PDP in general.’’
Similarly, the senatorial leader for Osun East Central District, Akindele Famuyide, said that the crisis had been resolved and the party was united.
