Traditional rulers in Osun West senatorial district have commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the reconstruction of the 90.9km Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan road.

The royal fathers also praised the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr Adegboyega Oyetola, for facilitating the project.

The appreciation is conveyed in a letter jointly signed by the traditional rulers in Osun West senatorial district addressed to the President and sent to journalists on Sunday in Lagos.

The monarchs said a copy of the letter had been handed over to Mr Oyetola for delivery to the President.

They described the intervention as a landmark infrastructural project that would transform economic and social activities across the South-West region.

The royal fathers recalled that Mr Oyetola had pledged to facilitate the reconstruction of the road during the coronation of the 41st Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adesuyi Clement Haastrup, Ajimoko III, on May 23, 2025.

The traditional rulers described the road project as a bold demonstration of responsive and inclusive governance.

“This monumental intervention stands as a bold testament to your administration’s unwavering commitment to infrastructural renewal, economic revitalisation and national integration.

“The road, which serves as a major economic corridor connecting Osun State to Oyo State and other parts of the South-West, has for many years posed untold hardship to commuters, traders, students, farmers, transporters and other road users due to its deplorable condition.

“Your timely approval of this strategic project has therefore rekindled hope in the hearts of our people and further reinforced public confidence in your Renewed Hope Agenda,” they stated.

The traditional rulers added: “We are particularly delighted that this laudable development will not only ease transportation and improve inter-state commerce. It will also stimulate socio-economic growth, enhance security and open up rural communities within the axis to greater opportunities.”

According to them, history will remember the intervention as one of the landmark achievements of the Tinubu administration in the South-West.

They stated, “The people of Osun West regard this gesture as a demonstration of responsive and inclusive governance. We equally commend Your Excellency for prioritising infrastructure that directly impacts the well-being of the people.

“This remarkable project will undoubtedly boost economic activities, facilitate easier movement of goods and services, reduce travel time and strengthen commercial and social interactions among communities within the South-West region.”

The royal fathers described the road reconstruction as a legacy intervention that would benefit present and future generations.
