OsunDecides: Police arrest 33 alleged Accord Party mercenary voters from Ondo, Ekiti

The police said a fleeing member of Accord Party, identified as Muftau Abdulkareem, facilitated their entry into the state.

The Osun State Police Command on Friday arrested 33 persons allegedly smuggled into the state from Ondo and Ekiti states by the ruling Accord Party to vote for Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Policemen attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department nabbed the 33 suspects in Babs Hotel behind the State High Court in Ede, in possession of permanent voter cards.

The cmmand spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, told the Peoples Gazette on Saturday that, “Yesterday, these people were brought in as mercenaries. Investigation is still on. Some of them are from Ondo and other parts of the state. I was with them yesterday, I interviewed some of them.”

According to investigation conducted by the SCID, the suspects claimed to have been allegedly lured into the state by a member of Accord Party, identified as Muftau Abdulkareem, now said to be on the run.
