OsunDecides: Why we voted, say octogenarians

Some octogenarians have said they decided to vote the in the ongoing governorship election in Osun State in anticipation of good governance in the state.

In separate interviews in Ile-Ife, the octogenarians, who voted at different polling units, expressed the hope that their votes would count at the end of the exercise.

One of them, Moria Aremu, who spoke at at L.A. Primary School, Ilode 1, Ward 007 in the Ife East Local Government where she voted, said she took the decision in order to vote for her preferred candidate.

“I have to perform my civil responsibility by casting my vote for a candidate of my choice and my expectation is that my vote will count at the end of the election,” she said.

Another elderly voter, Ibrahim Salam, said in as long as he is alive and in good health, he must participate in election process.

“As a good citizen of Nigeria, I must vote and contribute my own quota toward the growth and development of our country, Nigeria,” the 87-year-old man said.

Mr Salam called on Nigerians to ensure active participation in electoral process by coming out to vote during elections.

“We must must not just sit down at home and be condemning one government or the other. Rather, we must take it up as our civic duties to come out to vote anytime there’s an election,” he said.
