Spain’s La Roja are through to the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a dominant 2-0 win over France in their semi-final match at the Dallas Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring for the 2010 champions from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute after Lucas Digne brought down Lamine Yamal inside his own 18-yard box.

Ahead of the match, commentators highlighted the potency of the French attack, but the Spaniards prevented them from taking a single shot on target in the first half.

While searching for an equaliser, Spain doubled their advantage in the 58th minute through Pedro Porro, who slotted home an assist from Dani Olmo after going one-on-one with goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

The French team managed three shots on target in the second half, but none were enough to stop goalkeeper Unai Simon as Spain booked their place in Sunday’s final against the winner of the second semi-final match between England and Argentina.

The victory marked Spain’s return to the World Cup final for the first time in 16 years, since La Roja won the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
