Oyebanji promises to deliver Ekiti for Tinubu in 2027

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has promised to ensure victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election in the state.
Mr Oyebanji described his re-election victory as a vote of confidence in the president’s leadership.
Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Oyebanji thanked Mr Tinubu for supporting his re-election after defeating his opponents in the June 20 off-cycle governorship election.
“Well, it has a lot to do with it. It’s not actually my victory, it’s Mr. President’s victory. You know, I represent him in Ekiti State and what has happened as a result of the election is just a vote of confidence in his leadership and an expression of appreciation by the people to Mr. President,” he said.
Mr Oyebanji said he visited the president to present his victory and express the gratitude and appreciation of the people of Ekiti, adding that the outcome of the governorship election was a sign of what to expect in the 2027 presidential election.
“Well, there’s a precedent to follow. In 2022, we won the election with 187,000. That was a governorship election.
“The previous election that came after, we won with 210,000. And now we’re in 2026, we have won the governorship with 319,000. So if you extrapolate by January next year, we are looking at 708,000,” he said.
Asked about the expectations of the people of Ekiti following his re-election, the governor said the reward for hard work was more work, pledging to continue serving the people diligently.
Mr Oyebanji was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after polling 319,224 votes across the state’s 16 local government areas.
