The Oyo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress has hailed the nomination of Joseph Tegbe as power minister.

This was noted in a letter dated May 4, jointly signed by the state chairman, Moses Adeyemo Alake, and the state secretary, Fatai Adesina, and made available on Tuesday in Ibadan.

The party described the nomination of the current director-general of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership as well-deserved and timely, given the country’s pressing need for sustained reforms in the energy sector.

It expressed confidence in Mr Tegbe’s capacity to deliver impactful leadership, citing his track record of excellence in both the private and public sectors.

According to APC, Mr Tegbe’s nomination comes at a critical period in Nigeria’s development, where strategic direction and competent leadership are required to address long-standing challenges in power generation, transmission and distribution.

“The APC in Oyo state is confident that Tegbe will bring innovation, efficiency and sustainable solutions to Nigeria’s power sector.

“His history of performance and commitment to service positions him to make meaningful contributions to national development,” it stated.

While reaffirming its full support, the party also pledged to engage constructively where necessary and encouraged continued collaboration between the minister-designate and party stakeholders.

The statement further acknowledged Mr Tegbe’s contributions to the growth of APC in Oyo State, expressing optimism that his new national assignment would further strengthen his commitment to public service and collective progress.

The party concluded by wishing him success in his new role and expressing hope that his tenure would mark a turning point in Nigeria’s quest for a stable and reliable power supply.
