Oyo CAN cries out over abduction of cleric’s daughter 

The spokesperson said Mrs Otesile, a mother of two, was abducted around 8 p.m in front of her home, situated at General Gas, Akobo area, on Thursday.

Ibukun Otesile, daughter of Reverend Olalekan Babatunde, founder and general overseer of Jesus Is King Ministries, was on Thursday abducted outside her home gate.

The incident, announced in a statement signed by the personal assistant to the outgoing chairman of the Oyo State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Olamide Olanrewaju, occurred in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to the spokesman, Mrs Otesile, a mother of two, was abducted around 8 p.m in front of her home, situated at General Gas, Akobo area.

“The daughter of our beloved Reverend Dr. Lekan Babatunde, was kidnapped this night Thursday, December 4 around 8:00Pm, Ibukun Otesile, the mother of two, was kidnapped in front of her gate at General Gas, Akobo,” Mr Olanrewaju stated.

Calling for Mrs Otesile’s rescue, the association appealed to the public and civil groups to help draw the attention of security operatives, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army, and other relevant authorities, to the incident.

“As of now, I am yet to get any information from the police PRO. I tried to reach out to the chaplain of the police headquarters in Eleyele. Usually, when we want to see the commissioner, we go through the chaplain,” Mr Olanrewaju told Peoples Gazette.

The Gazette also gathered that Mrs Otesile is the President of the Junior Chambers International (JCI), Ibadan Elite.

Contacted, the state police spokesperson, Osifeso Adewale, stated that investigation into the incident was ongoing, noting that updates would be provided when available.

He stated, “Investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided accordingly, please.”

Mrs Otesile’s abduction followed the kidnap of Adewale Oriade, a member of the All Progressive Congress party in the state.
