The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Ayodele Sonubi, has assured the people of the state of adequate security during the yuletide and beyond.

Mr Sonubi gave the assurance during a security stakeholders’ meeting held at the command’s headquarters in Ibadan on Thursday.

He said that the command had always been up and doing in the state, security-wise, adding, however, that it would up its game in the last lap of the year to checkmate the activities of criminals.

He stated, “Today’s gathering is to further sensitise and synergise with the people, hear from them and tell them what and what we have been observing recently as constituting security challenges. We have been having a series of stakeholders’ meetings but this is so strategic because we all know the importance of the last lap of the year. Criminal-minded people are planning and we, as a security agency, will not allow them to have their way. So, everyone needs to play their roles so that we have a save environment through the yuletide, up till the coming year.’’

Mr Sonubi said that the command would improve on what it had been doing since the beginning of the ember months which had resulted in security improvement in the state, especially in the remaining part of the year.

The police commissioner urged the people of the state to be more security conscious in their respective areas and report any suspicious movement to security agencies across the state for prompt action.

“By God’s grace, we shall witness a hitch-free yuletide and God will see us through the new year,” Mr Sonubi said.
