Oyo governorship aspirant dumps APC, says party unprepared for youths

Oyo State governorship aspirant, Saheed Oladele, has resigned his membership of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Mr Oladele made his intention known in a letter dated Tuesday, April 7, shared in a Facebook post on Saturday.
The letter was addressed to the APC party chairman, Ward 4, Ibadan North Local Government.
He said, “I write to formally tender my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party I have loved, believed in, and diligently served since its inception.
“I have strived to serve as a bridge between the older generation, who understandably value continuity, and the younger generation, who earnestly desire innovation, growth, and meaningful change.”
Disclosing his reason for the decision, Mr Oladele cited recent developments within the Oyo State chapter of the APC, particularly the party’s unpreparadness to “give young people a seat at the decision-making table.”
“Recent developments and party positions have made it increasingly clear that, within Oyo State, the APC was not yet prepared to give young people a seat at the decision-making table, but rather prefers to engage them as instruments without corresponding influence,” Mr Oladele said.
“This reality stands in contrast to the values I hold and the future I envision for our people,” he added.
The governorship aspirant said his decision and loyalty was “to the service of the masses” rather than to “any system that does not sufficiently prioritise their advancement and collective good.”
Mr Oladele appreciated the opportunity to work and build relationships with friends, stakeholders and leaders during his period as a member of the party.
“I hereby resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective immediately,” he noted.
