Oyo: Seyi Makinde commends voters turnout; downplays volatile security challenges

Seyi Makinde, Oyo state governor and the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 gubernatorial poll, has commended voters’ turnout and peaceful atmosphere recorded across the state so far in the ongoing election.
The governor, who is vying for a second term in office, said this while speaking to journalists shortly after casting his vote around 11:00 am at Ward 11, Unit 01, Abayomi area, Iwo Road, Ibadan North-East Local Council Area of the state.
Speaking about the turnout of voters, Mr Makinde said the numbers speak for itself, referring to the massive crowd that flooded him upon his arrival at the polling unit while denying the unfounded claims about the volatile security situation in the state.
“…You, yourself can see that people are out here exercising their civic rights, and from the security aspect, I think it has been good so far and let me also use this opportunity to encourage people to come out and vote.
“They are saying there have been security challenges, but as you can see, there are no security challenges. People are here and voting peacefully and expressing their preferences,” he concluded.
