Palestinian envoy pledges support to Nigeria’s agric sector

The new Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria, Abdullah Shawesh, on Friday, pledged to support Nigeria with his vast knowledge in the agricultural sector.

The envoy made this known at a parley with journalists at the Embassy in Abuja.

He said that his message to Nigeria was on the political and sustainable development areas, which his country was reputable.

Mr Shawesh added that his country was knowledgable in the agricultural sector and a memorandum of understanding was signed with Nigeria to share Palestinian experiences in boosting Nigerian agriculture sector.

He, however, said that on the political and sustainable development aspect, Nigeria can play a vital role in ending the Israeli-Palestinian political struggles.

Mr Shawesh added that Nigeria can play a vital role due to her bilearal relationships with both countries.

He urged the Nigerian government to support the cause of Palestine according to the international law and United Nations resolutions.

Mr Shawesh said: ”The Palestinian people are educated and the literacy rate was 97. 3 per cent, this means that we have a wealth of knowledge to share with our Nigerian counterparts.

“The Palestinian Center of Bureau of Statistics is one of the top ten in the world and it shows our performance in helping in sharing our experience and knowledge not only in Nigeria but in Africa as well,” the envoy added.
