A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, Cletus Obun, has chimed in on the pressing  issue of national security, clamoring for the resignation of Nigeria’s Minister of Information and the Digital Economy, Isa Pantami.

Mr Obun, speaking on AIT Monday morning, declared that Mr Pantami should be sacked from his position if he is unwilling to resign in light of the revelations made about him.

“Pantami should resign, if he does not, you sack him! Not to give the impression that you tolerate and endure (audio distorts) to give the government a bad name.”

In his argument, Mr Obon recalls the resignation of former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun, who vacated her office over forged NYSC exemption certificates.

Mr Obun’s call for the Minister’s sack comes a day after the People’s Democratic Party demanded for Mr Pantami’s dismissal

Mr Pantami,  in charge of Nigeria’s information infrastructure, currently faces calls for his resignation after videos depicting his support for terrorists and extremists views surfaced online.

In the time since the videos made its rounds on social media, Mr Pantami has apologized for his comments, asserting  his teachings over the years were rooted in peace and tolerance.
