A parcel bomb exploded in a building at Monaco, injuring a wealthy Ukrainian businessman, Vadym Yermolaiev, and two others on Monday.

The parcel bomb exploded at around 9:00pm (1900 GMT) on Monday, French authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

Two of those injured by the exploded parcel are in critical condition and now in the hospital in city of Nice, said Monaco public prosecutor Stéphane Thibault.

Mr Thibault said the matter was being investigated as “attempted murder” and not considered as a “terrorist” act.

Meanwhile, French police on Tuesday launched a manhunt for the perpetrator of the parcel bomb.

With an estimated fortune of about $230 million, Mr Yermolaiev, 58, was ranked as the 39th richest Ukrainian by Forbes magazine in 2020.
