Parents of abducted Oyo pupils beg Tinubu, Makinde to ensure their safe return

Distraught parents of the abducted schoolchildren in Ahoro-Esinele community in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have appealed to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde to rescue their rescue.
The parents in a video on Sunday expressed worry over the safety of the victims following their abduction nine days ago.
One of the parents said, “We are begging them that God will strengthen them. They should help us. We appeal to the government to please come to our aid. May their efforts come through.”
Another parent, who narrated her ordeal, begged Messrs Tinubu and Makinde to meet abductors’ demands to ensure safe release and return of victims.
“We beg them to show us their mercy. It’s been nine days now that the children were kidnapped. The government should please meet the demands of the terrorists.
“Some of the children didn’t want to go to school that day. We forced them to go to school. One of them was even even eating before he left for school. I gave him N100. I am sad that the children were abducted,” she said.

Two days later, a viral video showed how a mathematics teacher, Michael Oyedokun, among those abducted, was shot and beheaded, prompting an immediate protest from teachers in the affected local government.
Another video also showed some residents in the affected communities fleeing their homes following the incident, strengthening claim that the community had been deserted by families not directly affected by the incident.
Meanwhile, Mr Makinde expressed his administration’s readiness to address the possible demands that might be made by the abductors to ensure safe release of the captives.
Mr Tinubu also condemned the incident and promised to work with the Oyo State government to rescue the victims.
The state police spokesperson DSP Olayinka Ayanlade couldn’t be reached for an update on the incident as calls made to his mobile were not picked and no response to a WhatsApp message sent as of the time this report was filed.
