The-led government has celebrated the upward review of National Youth Service Corps members’ allowance to N77,000 as another promise fulfilled and a mark of true leadership.

Sunday Dare, a presidential media aide, in a post on X on Wednesday, said the upward review of corps members’ allowance is a testament to Mr Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare of young Nigerian graduates.

“Members of the NYSC have started to receive the 77,000 Naira new allowance approved by President Bola Tinubu,” Mr Dare said. “The fulfillment of this promise by the President signposts his commitment to the welfare of our young graduates.”

According to Mr Dare, the upward review of NYSC members’ allowance to N77,000 from N33,000 reveals Mr Tinubu as a true leader.

Mr Dare’s statement sparked reactions, with many reminding the presidential aide of the unprecedented cost-of-living crisis caused by Mr Tinubu’s fuel subsidy removal.

An X user, @Aluta_panorama, said, “You are not ashamed that you are paying a corper, a graduate N77,000, when a bag of rice is N100,000.”

“To be sincere, in this economy, that 77k no go still do them,” @Yahaya_N83 said.
