Paystack co-founder Ezra Olubi deactivated his Twitter account on Thursday after a series of his old, disturbing tweets fawning over sex with cats, underage girls resurfaced.

The now-suspended Paystack chief, for instance, in 2011, tweeted about contracting STDs and engaging in bestiality.

Born in 1986, Mr Olubi was between 23 and 27 years old when he made the tweets that now haunt his career, after Paystack suspended him from his role as chief technical officer.

“Can you contract one (STD) if the only thing you’ve had sex with in months is your cat?” Mr Olubi tweeted.

In the explicit X posts dated as far back as 2009, Mr Olubi appeared to be recommending sex with minors as the cure to HIV and said he lacked sexual discipline around 16-year-olds.

In September 2019, he urged a Twitter user to “save water” and “take a bath with ur neighbour’s daughter”.

“I hear sex wit a minor cures HIV, so my +ve followers, help yourselves,” Mr Olubi stated in a 2010 post.

Mr Olubi encouraged his Twitter followers to touch their colleagues inappropriately at work. In a 2010 post, he disclosed that he had been diagnosed with HIV and Hepatitis B.

“Minday will be more fun with an ‘a’ in it. Touch a co-worker today. Inappropriately,” he wrote on social media in May 2011.

Although Mr Olubi had not yet co-founded Paystack at the time of the tweets, the payment startup disclosed his suspension in a statement to Tech Cabal. The company said it will launch an investigation to determine the allegations of sexual misconduct.

On February 1, 2011, Mr Olubi tweeted, “With the way I just looked at this young girl, I hope my daughter doesn’t grow a pair of boobs till she turns 18.”

Mr Olubi also tweeted about being “deprived of watching 16-year-olds…till I discovered anime”.

In June 2012, Mr Olubi said he kept an audio recorder in his bathroom to “judge my female friends by the sound their pee makes”.

In another December 2011 tweet, Mr Olubi wrote, “The reason I’m yet to share my view of my colleague’s thighs with you guys is because I’m still searching for a silent camera.”

Late President Muhammadu Buhari honoured Mr Olubi with the Officer of the Order of Niger, one of the nation’s top awards, in October 2022.

Mr Olubi, 39, is known for his alte fashion lifestyle; wearing women’s clothing, using lipstick and painting his fingernails despite living in a conservative West African nation like Nigeria.

The Paystack co-founder had seemed unperturbed by criticisms of his fashion lifestyle, at least until Thursday evening, when he deactivated his X account.
