PDP chieftain mourns, hails Ogbeh

A Peoples Democratic Party chieftain in Lagos, Laja Adeoye, has described the death of the late former PDP national chairman, Audu Ogbeh as shocking.
Mr Adeoye, a House of Representatives hopeful in Oshodi-Isolo federal constituency, said this while reacting to Mr Ogbeh’s demise in an interview on Saturday in Lagos.
Mr Ogbeh, a former agriculture minister, died on Saturday at 78.
“The death of Ex-PDP national chairman, Chief Audu Ogbeh is shocking and at the same time, a celebration of a life well spent with many legacies to his name.
“His achievements as a leader in PDP will continue to be remembered as well as his meritorious service to the nation in the area of agriculture and other sectors of the economy.
“I commiserate with his immediate and political families. His death is a huge loss to the nation,” Mr Adeoye said.
Mr Ogbeh, who hailed from Efugo-Otukpa in Ogbadibo LGA of Benue, was also appointed communications minister during the administration of the late President Shehu Shagari at 32, making him the youngest federal cabinet member at that time.
He had previously served as deputy speaker of Benue House of Assembly after joining politics in 1979.
