Pep sells Jesus for £45 million to Arsenal
Arsenal have today completed the signing of Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City on a five-year deal.
Jesus has been in the Premier League with City since he signed from Palmeiras in 2017.
In a video released Monday morning to announce his transfer, Jesus said, “Football, to me, is art. I want to play somewhere with a team that wants to play, embracing the spirit of Brazilian football. I want to make people happy. Let’s make some memories!”
Speaking to the club’s website after landing his target, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said, “I’m very excited. The club has done a tremendous job to recruit a player of this stature. I know Gabriel personally very well, and we all know him well from his time in the Premier League and being successful here.”
He added, “This is a position that’s been on our radar for a long time now, and we have managed to get a player that we all wanted, so I’m really happy.”
Jesus scored 95 goals in 236 games for the Cityzens and will now be leading the line for Arsenal, wearing his favourite number ‘9’ jersey.
