Plateau governor further relaxes curfew hours
The Plateau government has further relaxed the curfew imposed on the Jos-Bukuru metropolis, extending it by two more hours. This was announced in a statement on Thursday.
“In light of the improved security situation in the Jos-Bukuru metropolis, the Plateau State Government has further relaxed the curfew, effective today, Thursday, August 8, 2024. Residents are now permitted to move freely for their lawful activities from 12 noon to 6 pm daily until further notice,” the statement said.
According to the statement, Governor Caleb Mutfwang made the decision after consultation with security agencies.
On Wednesday, the state government had relaxed the curfew, allowing movement from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The curfew was originally imposed on Sunday after youths in Jos North began vandalising properties as part of the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest.
