Plateau men sentenced to prison for stealing

On Wednesday, an area court in Jos sentenced Muhammad Salisu and Abdulmalik Muhammad to three months’ imprisonment, each for stealing provisions and a wristwatch, all valued at N20,000.
The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convicts after they pleaded guilty to the offence. The judge, however, gave the convicts an option of a fine of N30,000 each.
The prosecutor, Labaran Ahmed, told the court that the case was reported at the Angwan Rogo Police Station on March 20 by Mubarak Mohammed, the complainant.
Mr Mohammed said the complainant said the now convicts trespassed into his compound and broke into his room to steal his wristwatch, four cans of malt drinks and four tins of milk, all valued at N20,000.
He said that during the police investigation, the accused confessed to committing the offence.
