Dequantes Devontay Lamar, popularly known as Rich Homie Quan, the Atlanta rapper known for his platinum-selling hits, has tragically passed away at the age of 34.

According to TMZ, Quan was found dead in his Atlanta home on Thursday.

His family and a rep for the Fulton County morgue, a facility in Georgia where deceased individuals are taken for autopsy, investigation, and storage has confirmed the devastating news but no official cause of death has been reported yet.

Quan, born October 4, 1989, in Atlanta, Georgia, had an undeniable impact on the hip-hop world.

He grew up in the city’s Kirkwood neighbourhood, where he showed early promise as an athlete, particularly in baseball.

In high school, Quan was a standout player with ambitions of going professional, but after a series of setbacks, including time spent in jail, his focus shifted toward music.

Quan’s musical journey began in around 2011 when he released his first mixtape.

Early influences like Lil Wayne and T.I. helped shape his style, which combined gritty street narratives with a melodic approach.

His career took off in 2013 with the release of “Type of Way.” The track became a street anthem and reached No. 50 on the Billboard Hot 100.

After the success of “Type of Way,” Quan’s career skyrocketed.

He linked up with fellow Atlanta rapper Young Thug to form the collective Rich Gang under Cash Money Records, releasing the hit “Lifestyle” in 2014.

The single went platinum and further solidified his place as a rising star in the hip-hop world.

His collaboration with Young Thug became a fan favorite, though personal differences eventually caused them to part ways.

Quan continued to build his solo career with another hit, “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” in 2015.

The infectious track became one of the year’s most popular songs, peaking at No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Despite his successes, Quan’s career was also marked by challenges.

Legal troubles and personal issues led to gaps in his musical output.

His debut studio album, “Rich as in Spirit”, wasn’t released until 2018, five years after his breakout hit.
