Police apprehend Abuja pastor over stolen car

The police command in the Federal Capital Territory has arrested a pastor, Edwin Nwabueze, and his accomplice, Sadiq Jamiu, for stealing a Toyota Camry at UTC Plaza, Garki District, Abuja.
In a statement on Friday, Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokesperson, said the principal suspect, who hails from Oji River, Enugu State, but resides in Benue State, identified himself as a pastor with the Salvation Power Bible Ministry, located in the North Bank area of Benue State.
Mr Nwabueze was nabbed on Tuesday. The police said the suspect led operatives to another location, where they also arrested Mr Jamiu.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations had also linked the suspect to previous arrests by the police command in Benue in connection with vehicle theft cases.
The police said further investigations revealed that the suspects were members of an interstate vehicle theft syndicate specialising in stealing and selling vehicles across several states.
“Investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of the syndicate’s operations and apprehend other members who are currently at large,” Ms Adeh noted.
