Police arraign 16-year-old girl for allegedly threatening rival over boyfriend

The police, on Monday, arraigned a 16-year-old girl (name withheld) before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court over an alleged threat to kill a 15-year-old girl for reportedly snatching her boyfriend.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing charges of threat to life and breach of public peace.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Friday Mameh, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on February 20 at about 9:00 p.m. at Khalakuta Jegba Quarters, Badagry, Lagos.
Mr Mameh alleged that the defendant attempted to kill the complainant (name withheld) by using a razor blade to cut her face, thereby inflicting injuries on her.
He said the defendant conducted herself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by creating pandemonium in the area.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant accused the complainant of snatching her boyfriend.
“The defendant used a razor blade to cut the face of the complainant so that she would leave her boyfriend for her.
“She was arrested and handed over to the police for prosecution.
“The offences contravened Sections 230 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015,” he said.
The chief magistrate, A. J. Aina, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate ruled that one of the sureties must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 12.
Mr Aina adjourned the case until March 30 for mention.
