The Kaduna State police command says 17 additional suspects have been arraigned in connection with the mob killing of a woman in Maraban Jos, Kaduna State.

The command disclosed this in a statement by the police public relations officer, Mansir Hassan, in Kaduna on Friday.

According to the statement, the suspects were arraigned before a competent court on June 25 following the conclusion of preliminary investigations into the incident.

The police also revealed that 33 other suspects have been charged with criminal conspiracy and unlawful assembly in relation to the case.

“Following the conclusion of preliminary investigations, 33 other suspects have been charged with criminal conspiracy and unlawful assembly,” the statement said.

The command, however, noted that 30 persons who had earlier been arrested in connection with the incident had been found not to have participated in the crime and were subsequently released unconditionally.

It stated that investigations into the gruesome killing were still ongoing, adding that efforts had been intensified to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the incident.

The police assured residents that every person found culpable would be brought to justice.

The commissioner of police in the state, Muhammad Rabiu, reiterated the command’s commitment to securing justice for the victim and maintaining law and order across Kaduna State.

He urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, and to continue providing the police with credible information that could aid the ongoing investigation.

The command further assured members of the public that it would continue to pursue all those involved in the crime until justice is served.
