Police arraign carpenter, 37, for allegedly defrauding house owner of N3.8 million

The police prosecutor alleged that the defendant wilfully delivered substandard doors.

Police on Monday, arraigned a 37-year-old carpenter, Temidayo Akinsanya, before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly defrauding a house owner of N3.8 million for supplying doors.

Akinsanya of Kayode Ajayi St., Ifelodun area, Apata, Ibadan, was charged on one count of fraud, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecuting counsel, ASP Sikiru Ibrahim, alleged that the defendant between June to August 2024, falsely obtained N3, 877, 000 from one Oladele Oladipupo for making and supplying doors for his house.

Mr Ibrahim alleged that the defendant wilfully delivered substandard doors, which the house owner rejected, and the defendant failed to refund the money back to him.

He said the offence contravene Section 421 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The Magistrate, M. Mudashiru, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

Mr Mudashiru said one of the sureties must be a blood relation to the defendant, while the other must have three years tax clearance.
