A couple, Job Isaiah, 40, and his wife, Glory, 30, were arraigned in the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Monday for allegedly threatening to kill their neighbour.

The police charged the couple with conduct likely to cause the breach of peace and a threat to life. They pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution counsel, CPL David Adepoju, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on October 18, at about 7:30 p.m., in the Mogona Taye area of Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendants threatened to kill Zainab Adeyinka, their neighbour.

Mr Adepoju also said the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to breach the peace by cursing Ms Adeyinka.

He said they committed the offence, which contravened the provisions of sections 249(d) and 86 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The magistrate, Kausarat Ayofe, admitted the defendants to N100,000 bail each and one surety each in like sum.

She thereafter adjourned the case until December 16 for a hearing.
