Police arraign Ibadan man for destroying crops
On Monday, the police arraigned Raji Moshood, 68, in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for destroying crops worth N400,000.
Mr Moshood, whose address was not provided, was charged with malicious conduct and damage, likely to cause a breach of peace.
The prosecutor, Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that Mr Moshood committed the offences on September 29 at Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan.
Mr Adegbite said that the suspect “unlawfully and maliciously damaged plantain and pineapple crops worth N400,000, belonging to one Adekola Kelani.
“He conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by subletting a piece of land that didn’t belong to him and destroying the crops.”
However, Mr Moshood pleaded not guilty to the charges, as the magistrate, Kausarat Ayofe, granted him bail of N200,000 and two reliable sureties in like sum.
She then adjourned the case until December 8 for a hearing.
