Police arraign man for allegedly raping lover’s friend

The police in Lagos on Friday arraigned a 29-year-old man, Femi Falomo, before the Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping his lover’s friend.
The defendant, a businessman who resides at Alhaji Abe Deen Close, Igan, Igando Road, Lagos, is standing trial on a one-count charge of rape.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 1 at Governor’s Road, Ikotun, Lagos.
Mr Ademigbuji alleged that the defendant lured his lover’s friend, a 20-year-old woman stranded on the road after a crossover service, to a hotel, got her drunk, and raped her.
The prosecutor added that the offence contravened Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The chief magistrate, L. A. Owolabi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N700,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Mr Owolabi adjourned the case until March 4 for mention.
