Police arraign man over theft of tricycle

A 25-year-old man, Biodun Mukaila, appeared before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Friday over alleged theft of a tricycle worth N6.5 million.
Mr Mukaila, of no fixed address, was charged with conspiracy and theft, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Femi Omilana, said the defendant committed the offences on October 20 and 26 in the Apata area of Ibadan.
Mr Omilana alleged that the defendant and others at large stole a tricycle worth N6.5 million and belonging to the complainant, Joseph Osunbunmi.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant dishonestly converted the tricycle entrusted to him for commercial purposes to his personal use.
He said the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The magistrate, Adebola Adeola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with one surety in like sum.
Ms Adeola held that the surety must be a relation of the defendant and adjourned the case until December 3 for hearing.
