A 25-year-old tipper motor boy, Adamu Musa, was arraigned on Thursday before the Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo on charges of alleged burglary and stealing.

The defendant, whose address was not given, faces three charges bordering on burglary, malicious damage, and stealing.

The police prosecutor, Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that on May 10, around 6:20 a.m., at Ilupeju Quarters in Okitipupa, Okitipupa magisterial district, the defendant burgled Funmilayo Olaleye’s dwelling house.

He said that the defendant maliciously damaged the window valued at N50,000 and stole a Tecno Smart 8 phone valued at N210,000 and N220,000 cash, totalling N480,000, property of Ms Olaleye.

Mr Omoyeigha added that the defendant committed the offences contrary to Sections 411, 451, and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

The chief magistrate, Mayowa Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail of N200,000 and one surety in like sum.

He added that the surety, who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction, must also show and present evidence of two years of tax payments paid to the state government.

He adjourned the case until September 21 for further hearing.
