Police arraign motorcyclist for power bank theft

A 25-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Imoleayo Omoniyi, on Friday appeared before a chief magistrates’ court in Okitipupa, Ondo State, for allegedly stealing a power bank worth N25,000.
The defendant, whose address was not given, faces a two-count charge. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, said the defendant allegedly stole the power bank on October 16, 2023, at about 10:00 a.m. at Cassava Company on Ikoya Road in Okitipupa.
Me Orogbemi said the defendant stole the power bank from one Bola Olayomi in contravention of section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The chief magistrate, Cletus Ojuola, granted the defendant N50,000 bail and one surety in like sum.
He ordered that the surety be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the state government.
He adjourned the case until February 16 for a hearing.
