Police arraign three for allegedly stealing goods worth N168,500

The police on Tuesday arraigned three men before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State, for allegedly stealing a Point-of-Sale Machine valued at N168,500.
The defendants, Dominic Daniel, 22, Edet Israel, 21 and Audra Anthony, 25, whose house addresses were not provided, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of alleged stealing and conspiracy.
The Prosecutor, Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant conspired to steal one POS machine, a Jack Daniel’s Whiskey and other items valued at N168,500, property of one Busola Onayemi.
Mr Adaraloye alleged that the defendants stole those items when they lodged in the complainant’s hotel.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 390 and 516 of Criminal Code,Laws of Ogun,2006.
The Magistrate, O.O. Fadairo, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N30,000 with one surety each in like sum.
Fadairo said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
He adjourned the case until June 16, for further hearing.
