Police arraign two Ogun men for assault, conspiracy
Two men, Sunday Ezeke and Uche Anyigor, were arraigned before the Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Tuesday on charges of assault and conspiracy.
Mr Ezeke, 35, and Mr Anyigor, 40, whose addresses were not given, are charged with conspiracy and assault, to which they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, E.O. Adaraloye, told the court the defendants committed the offences at about 11:30 p.m. on August 15 in Ota.
Mr Adaraloye stated that the defendants assaulted the complainant, Jamiu Akanbi, and injured him in the left eye with an iron rod.
The prosecutor said that the defendants also assaulted another resident, Dada Wasiu, who was undertaking his legitimate duties.
Mr Adaraloye said that the offences contravened Sections 355 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The magistrate, O.O. Fadairo, granted the defendants bail of N500,000 each, with one surety in like sum.
Ms Fadairo said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed, with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.
She adjourned the case until September 10 for hearing.
