Police arrest 25-year-old for murder in Bauchi

The police command in Bauchi arrested one Jabir Yusuf, a 25-year-old for killing a resident, Hassan Mohamed.

The police command in Bauchi has arrested a suspect, Jabir Yusuf, 25, of Rinjin Gura village, Toro council area, for killing a resident, Hassan Mohamed.

This was disclosed on Tuesday by Nafiu Habib, the command’s spokesman, in a statement. The suspect shot the victim in the neck on Tuesday.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that on 7th September, 2026 at about 1130hrs, a report was received at Rishi Division from a resident of Zalau Ward, to the effect that the suspect allegedly discharged a Dane gun and shot the victim on the neck, thereby causing fatal injuries,” he said.

Mr Habib said the police team in Gumau Division mobilised to the scene and evacuated the victim to Toro General Hospital for urgent medical attention, where he was confirmed dead by the medical doctor on duty.

“Consequently, the corpse was profiled and released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites,” he noted.

Mr Habib stated that the suspect has been apprehended and the dane gun recovered as exhibit. He added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.

The police commissioner, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commiserated with the bereaved family and directed a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
