Police arrest, arraign three for stealing foam
Three men, Ibrahim Sheu, Yakubu Amisu and Omoh Otigo have been arraigned before the Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for stealing.
Messrs Sheu, 19; Amisu, 20; and Otigo, 22, are standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
They were arraigned before magistrate Ademola Adesanya.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Simeon Uche, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on November 8.
Mr Uche said they were arrested at the Alaba Rago area of Ojo following police investigations.
He explained that the defendants burgled an apartment located at the Alemu community in Ijanikin, belonging to Adanma Okiyi.
Mr Uche also stated that the defendants broke into the apartment through the ceiling and carted away one Polystar refrigerator valued N135,000, four OX ceiling fan valued N40,000, one foam valued N16,000 and one gas cylinder valued N12,000.
He said some of the stolen items were traced to Alaba Rago near the cattle market, while the defendants were apprenhended following further investigations.
The offences contravened sections 287, 307 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
Mr Adesanya granted the defendants bail of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until January 12, 2022 for mention.
