Police arrest Bauchi man over alleged defilement of 14-year-old girl

The police command in Bauchi State has arrested a 29-year-old man, Sadiq Yusuf, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Guru village.
In a statement on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, said the incident occurred on May 14, 2026, at about 1:00 a.m.
“According to a report received at ‘B’ Division, GRA, Bauchi, on 15th May 2026 at about 1700 hours, the incident occurred on 14th May 2026 at approximately 0100 hours,” he said.
“The complainant, a 45-year-old father, reported that his nephew, Sadiq Abubakar Yusuf, allegedly lured his 14-year-old daughter outside their residence and sexually assaulted her.”
Mr Habib said police operatives promptly responded upon receiving the report and arrested the suspect.
He stated that the minor was rescued and taken for immediate medical attention at the police clinic.
He stated that the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet and thorough investigation and possible prosecution.
“The command assures the public that the matter will be handled with the utmost professionalism, sensitivity, and in accordance with the law,” Mr Habib.
